# hindsight is the best teacher

- hindsight

n. the ability to understand an event or situation only after it has happened.

e.g. With (the benefit / wisdom of) hindsight, I should have taken the job.

e.g. In hindsight, it would have been better to wait.

 

- banter

n. conversation that is funny and not serious.

e.g. That kind of banter isn't appropriate at work.

 

- benefit

n. a helpful or good effect, or something intended to help

e.g. With the benefit of hindsight(= helped by the knowledge leanred later) it is easy for us to see where we went wrong.

 

v. to be helped by something or to help someone

e.g. I feel that I have benefited greatly from her wisdom.

e.g. How can we benefit those who most need our help?
